'We'll Wander Through (Golden)'
'We'll Wander Through (Golden)'

'We'll Wander Through (Golden)'

Fused glass with powdered frits and stringers, mounted on oak

30 × 30 cm plus stand

Evoking a golden glade bathed in the light of memory & myth, this piece draws inspiration from W B Yeats’s poem ‘The Song Of Wandering Aengus’. The layered amber and white forms suggest a dreamscape where nature and longing entwine- echoing Aengus’s eternal search through ‘hollow lands & hilly lands’ for a vision glimpsed in twilight. A celebration of ephemeral beauty held in glass and light.

'Interventions'

'Interventions'

Fused and slumped glass with silver leaf inclusions, on a painted wooden stand

Approximately 25 × 40 cm

Tiny pieces of copper bearing turquoise glass react with the silver leaf and the French Vanilla base to create a beautiful golden brown aura. The linked columns of silver leaf create a fence like interventions across the undulating surface, but spaces between allow freedom to move in and around. However the silver is inherently beautiful and invites a pause to linger and admire the surface. This piece invites consideration that interventions are neither always good nor bad, but can be either, depending on the circumstances.

'Nightshade'

'Nightshade'

Fused glass with silver leaf inclusions, mounted on painted birch ply for wall hanging

10 × 42 cm

The fungi like silver forms emerge from their pitch black surroundings, gleaming with a subtle sheen. Harmless, even edible and sustaining? or poisonous, deadly? ‘Nightshade’ invites contemplation on the perceived qualities of dark and light, of beauty and life, beauty and danger, .

'Tempus Fugit (Mid Afternoon)' SOLD

'Tempus Fugit (Mid Afternoon)' SOLD

40 x 40 cm kiln fused glass panel with silver leaf inclusions, mounted for wall hanging on painted birch ply

In this stylized depiction of three dandelion ‘clocks’ (3 o’clock in the afternoon), the silver leaf, lightly dusted with specks of copper bearing turquoise glass, reacts with the French Vanilla glass base. This chemical reaction appears as a beautiful haze which spreads unpredictably around the silver

'Tempus Fugit (Night)' SOLD

'Tempus Fugit (Night)' SOLD

40 x 60 cm kiln fused glass panel with silver leaf inclusions, mounted ready for wall hanging on 50 x 70 cm painted birch ply

'Tempus Fugit (Day) SOLD

'Into The Light I'

'Into The Light I'

Kiln fused glass panel 20 x 20 cm on an oak stand

This piece features a cyan/copper dichroic glass in which the colour shifts dramatically depending on the angle of light and of view. It therefore looks very different as the light changes throughout the day, and under artificial light at night.

Interested to see how this might work on a larger scale, I have since made another piece exploring the same theme, which has become ‘Into The Light II’
