Fields Of Gold II
Fused glass panel on oak stand
Panel 30 × 40 cm plus stand
This piece was inspired by a large site specific painted hanging I had created (see “D page). I wanted to see how the scene, a response to a view observed high above the coast in Kent, would translate into a glass panel.

Before The Berry Dropped
Fused glass panel on oak stand
30 × 40 cm plus stand
In W B Yeat’s poem ‘The Song Of Wandering Aengus’ , the eponymous hero ties a berry to a thread, drops it in a woodland stream, and catches a little silver trout. What happens next dramatically and irrevocably changes the course of his life. This scene imagines the calm and tranquil beauty of the place just before Aengus’ action shattered his peace for ever.

'Turn To Gold'
Kiln fused glass panel with gold mica inclusions
Panel 30 x 30 cm on oak stand
Gold dichroic glass used on the tree trunk and in the foliage glows subtly in daylight, but visually leaps to the fore when artificial light bounces off the surface.

'Inevitable'
Fused glass panel on oak stand
Panel 31 × 40.5 cm
The last leaves cling to the trees as winter approaches. But on the ground, the carpet of reds, russets and golds signals the inevitable.
